As the Feast of St. Fulgentius was included in the ancient breviaries in the calendas of January, it is fixed on January 16 and continues to be celebrated in this way.
It used to be a big celebration, but now it is still celebrated religiously. Not only in BERZOCANA but also in Plasencia, Seville and Murcia, Cartagena, Madrid and towns in America.
It is a local holiday. Currently the religious part remains with mass and procession; the men carry St. Fulgencio and the women carry St. Florentina, behind them is the Ark and the relics carried by the brothers (the whole town is a brotherhood).
There is bidding to get the Ark into the church and many take advantage of this date when the bids are lower than during the Feast of the Branch (the Ark also comes out during the August festivities).
In the evening, chocolate and churros are accompanied by the music of a local virtuoso or a theatrical performance.
